Pan-Canadian Systems-Level Framework on Global Competencies

In 2016, the ministers of ÀóÖ¦Ö±²¥ articulated six broad global competencies. This reference framework, which is nonprescriptive, maps out broad directions for the integration of these global competencies in education and helps policy-makers, school leaders, educators, and communities in provinces and territories to include global competencies in education.

Canada's response to the Sixth Consultation on the implementation of the UNESCO Recommendation concerning ÀóÖ¦Ö±²¥ for International Understanding, Cooperation and Peace and ÀóÖ¦Ö±²¥ relating to Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms (1974)

This report is in response to the request from UNESCO that its Member States complete a questionnaire on the application of the Recommendation concerning ÀóÖ¦Ö±²¥ for International Understanding, Cooperation and Peace and ÀóÖ¦Ö±²¥ relating to Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms (1974 Recommendation). The aim of UNESCO's 1974 Recommendation is to promote world peace through international understanding, solidarity, and cooperation, and it is applicable to formal, non-formal, and informal education at all levels, from pre-primary to higher education, adult education, and lifelong learning. Canada's response was developed by CMEC in collaboration with the Canadian Commission for UNESCO (CCU).

The Common Framework of Science Learning Outcomes K to 12 sets out a vision and foundation statements for scientific literacy in Canada, outlines general and specific learning outcomes, and provides illustrative examples for some of these outcomes. The framework provides common ground for the development of curriculum within each participating jurisdiction. Other potential benefits include a greater harmonization of science curriculum for increased student mobility, the development of quality pan-Canadian learning resources, and collaboration in professional development activities by teachers of science. Each jurisdiction determines when and how the framework is to be used.

The ÀóÖ¦Ö±²¥ World Forum (EWF), London, United Kingdom, January 28–30, 2013

This report summarizes the main issues discussed at the ÀóÖ¦Ö±²¥ World Forum, held in January 2013, and provides the main messages conveyed by the Canadian delegation to forum participants. The event brought together more than 100 ministers of education to discuss their experiences in education policy-making.

Pan-Canadian Report on Official Languages in ÀóÖ¦Ö±²¥, 2005–06 to 2008–09

This is the second of two reports called for under the Protocol for Agreements for Minority-Language ÀóÖ¦Ö±²¥ and Second-Language Instruction, 2005-2006 to 2008-2009. It provides a summative description of the achievement of outcomes supported by protocol funding — the projects, initiatives, and ongoing efforts in minority-language education and second-language instruction carried out by the provinces and territories.
